Heritage Garland

I wanted to share my most recent craft project.  A Heritage Garland.  I was inspired by listening to Genealogy Gems Podcast and watching the instruction videos posted on Lisa Louise Cook's wonderful Genealogy Gems website
I decided to make a garland as opposed to a wreath as was described in the Genealogy Gems Podcast as I had space for a garland inside where I could view it.
I followed the instructions from the Genealogy Gems website for the most part.  I started with a garland from Michaels and printed the pictures as instructed.  For the frames I decided to coordinate.  All the women are in oval frames, and the men are in rectangular frames.  Couples share the same design, red glitter, gold glitter or rope frame.  For the glitter frames I took a base wood frame and coated it with the glitter then glued the wood frame to the image on the wood backing.  I sewed some of the trinkets directly to the garland instead of gluing them per my Mom's request so that we can easily remove and reuse the trinkets (such as a button from my grandfathers naval uniform) if/when the garland itself becomes damaged.

Thank You Lisa Louise Cook for your wonderful Genealogy Gem!
